Our Tech Operators are a dedicated group of volunteers who work extremely hard to support our services each and every week. They strive to enable the congregation to hear and see what is happening, and hopefully all without being noticed themselves. Today, I had the exciting task of setting up our new sound desk, a big upgrade to support the work of our sound operators.
Our outgoing desk (pictured below) has served our church faithfully for the last 13 years, since just after the rebuild from the fire. Some quick back of the napkin maths shows it has been used in about 1,800 to 2,000 services and is likely nearing 10,000 running hours. However, as we all know, technology doesn't stay still for long, and there are some massive differences in the new desk (pictured above) which will allow our team to continue to support our church.
I once again want to thank our sound and data operators for their commitment and willingness to serve. As we start using our new desk, there will be an adjustment for our team, which will be supported with training. If you have been thinking about putting your hand up for sound or data and have been holding off, why not take this as an opportunity to give it a go, I would love to hear from you after church or via email (matthew@avonheadbaptist.org).
