Exciting First Steps

This week, our music team and sound & data operators had our first combined catch up and training evening. Both teams have been getting into the habit of the regular catch ups and earlier this year Christine and myself made the decision to try combining these sessions on a less frequent basis (every 3 months).

In preparing for this evening, I was reminded of one of my favourite verses, Psalm 150:

1 Praise the Lord . Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. 3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, 4 praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, 5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

We started our evening with a shared meal, I want to thank Margaret Duffy and Bruce Muschamp for contributing some delicious food. This provided an opportunity for our teams to get to know each other in a different environment and build those relationships that are so essential for collaboration on Sundays.

We then had Kay and Malcolm Palmer come to share with us a short bible study on the order and priorities of worship. It was a great reminder that as we approach the throne of God with our worship, we should do so with consideration and reverence.

We finished the night with a practice for the music team, which offered an opportunity for the sound operators to begin learning about sound checks and their importance.

This was our first time having a combined catch up and we look forward to repeating again in 12 weeks.
