I've been on holiday

Firstly, welcome to a new year, 2021. I trust that you are coming into this year with a sense of God’s presence with you.

The start of this year saw us on holiday on the West Coast. I have not spent much time there and so it was wonderful to see the magnificent bush, the rain (yes it rains on the coast!) the sunsets, and have the opportunity to stop and catch my breath after last year!

I don’t know about you, but I am fully aware that if it was good enough for God to rest on the 7th day of creation, then it should be good enough for me to rest. But knowing and doing can be two completely different things. So often in life we seem to find so many things to fill our time. I have heard people use the word busy so many times this week, and it only my first week back in the office.

Yet when we do find time to rest, to be still, reflect, refresh, it is also a time for God to be able to speak above the noise of our lives. And we have a good example, because Jesus was often going away on His own to refresh and hear His Father’s voice.

So you we start to gear up for the year, can I also encourage you to find ways to rest, and listen to the refreshing healing voice of God
