I've been thinking
For those of you who were unaware, this Wednesday was Ash Wednesday which is the start of Lent, a period of 40 days leading up to Easter. Lent is a time in which we prepare our heart for the Easter, which for many Christian traditions is the centrepiece of the Christian faith.
Over the last few years we have done a number of things to mark the lenten seasons. Times of prayer, lenten reflections etc. This year we are planning on remembering the Easter season a little differently, with a series of gatherings that will progress us as a community through the weekend. This will start with a light meal on the Thursday evening through to a Praise Party on the Sunday evening.
One of hallmarks of this years remembrance is that we are planning on going through this weekend as a church family, across the ages. So we would encourage each and everyone, no matter what age or stage to feel free to join us, as the people of God at Avonhead Baptist.
So, put the dates in your calendar now, the first weekend in April. We look forward to remembering, mourning, and celebrating the work of Jesus, together.
