King Jesus

A VIP (Very Important Person) was at our church service last Sunday.

The children of our congregation, in imagining the presence of a member of the Royal family, suggested that we might be silent before them, and wait for our turn to speak. Another suggested we might bow before them. They knew about giving honor to a VIP.

The presence of God was in our service last Sunday, as we acknowledged King Jesus. He is not only present in all of our church services, he is present each moment of our lives. We are so privileged that the veil of the temple was torn (Matthew 27:51). This means that through the blood of Jesus we can come straight to the throne room of God.

Hebrews 10:19-22 says, “Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”

Many of the children wrote beautiful, honouring and heartfelt prayers to King Jesus. Whether with spoken words, songs of praise or lament, or written letters to him, what will you bring to the King of the Universe this week?
