Them Dry Bones – Ezekiel 37:1-14
Ezekiel is charged with helping Israel make sense of its experience. Where is God and what is he doing? In this, our fourth engagement with his message, we hear of the famous vision of dry bones. This comes in a stirring series of passages promising restoration and reunification of Israel. This all comes with an
important caveat.
36:32 – “It is not for your sake that I will act”
It is entirely for his own glory that God moves in history. The point is to demonstrate his nature to the world – to reveal the truth about himself to mortals, so that they might take the opportunity to enter a flourishing relationship with him.
What we tend to offer in return are dry bones. Thankfully he has an answer for that as well.
